Time & Astrology: Past, Present, Future

There is wide speculation on whether Astrology (any system of it) is worthy of application in our lives. This is a very good contemplative question to consider, especially for those who practice and live by Astrology (or those who simply find this topic interesting). Let us remember what does Astrology have to do with? It has to do with Consciousness and Awareness and the process by which opening these facilities is achieved. Astrology also has to do with Time and events which occur in the passage of Time. The 'opening of the facility' of Consciousness and Awareness means that Astrology can be used as a tool to raise our own mind's awareness of the conditions and circumstances occurring in the realm of consciousness. We do this by study of methods, science and art associated with Astrological understandings, simply studying and contemplating Astrological information is enough to open the doors of perception and raise the Awareness of Consciousness.

This article is focussed on Time and the events which occur in the passage of Time,  Particularly the relationship between Time and Astrology, such as the title of the article implies.

There are varying views on Time and what it is. We do not need to get into that here, nor debate over which is most prevalent. In Vedic Astrology it is widely understood that karma plays out in the 'realm' or 'space' of Time. If Karma were resolved entirely for everything and everyone in existence, then likely Time alone would transpire itself. Now, lets get to the core of this article, which focuses on the three states of Time and their relationship with Astrology.....

The three states of Time:
- Past
-Present (the Now)
-Future

Many people disregard Astrology right from the get-go, considering it a waste of Time, others do not connect Astrology to Astronomy and loose a great wealth of insight and knowledge in doing so (as mentioned in other articles on this website, remember, Astrology and Astronomy go hand in hand). Still others, simply do not have the time to sit with a rather vast and intricate topic such as Astrology and just let it go, live their lives.

The past and future states of Time are tangible only in our mind, as there is only one real, true reality - which is ever present in the NOW. 'The Present' state of Time is all that truly exists in any time, place or condition. In other terms, the only real reality is the present moment.

'The Past' consists of unresolved thoughts, ideas and experiences or karmas and samskaras (habitual conditions on the mind). Therefor, it is the mind of the relative individual which makes up the past sense of Time, nothing more.

'The Future' consists of unmanifested thoughts, ideas and experiences or karmas we hope to attain, create, explore and/or conclude in our lives....'The Future' is also not a real reality, and exists only in our relative minds, propelled by current Karma which we are actively engaged with dealing with in THE PRESENT MOMENT of our lives.

The trajectory of all three states of Time is almost entirely propelled by the karma of our lives. Leaving most of us bound to looking to the past and future to resolve past things that we drag behind us, while in the future we look to create conditions that we feel are yet unsatisfied in ourselves -  to make something we feel is better. And yet, for many, all the while we are just actually caught in the bind of our own karma, never truly living in a conscious aware reality, the only reality, which is 'the Present' moment.

But, how to be free of a trajectory of karma that pulls us to the past and future while we exist in the present, yet all too often do not keep our awareness of consciousness in the present?

That question should be a 'ah-ha' epiphany moment for the reader of this article.

The answer rests in the relationship between Time and Astrology. And is the reason why spiritual forces and wise ancient people of the past created a transmission of the wisdom of Astrology to be used by the people to raise and open their awareness of consciousness in the present moment, and truly experience the only reality that is as freely as they possibly can.

This is so, because Astrology shows us the karma of our past, present and future, how to help us guide our awareness and energy to take care of what is most pertinent and free ourselves to allow consciousness and awareness to remain settled comfortably in the present moment that is the only reality that is. There are other methods and ways to do this, Astrology is just one method which proves to have been used  for millennia to do it.

For those who have the intelligence and spiritual strength of consciousness to regulate their own karma and stay within the present moment then that is wonderful. But many struggle with being able to do this, or maintain this. Eventually perhaps everyone will come to that place to settle freely and comfortably in the present moment and live taking care of events as they arise, and being more able to take care of them since they are simply living in the present moment- without being pulled to the past or future within their own mind into unreal realities that may have existed in the past (but now are not) or into the future (realities that may or may not ever come into existence). And if everyone, or some of us, get to that place, well then, we could probably do away with Astrology.

The relationship between Time and Astrology means to bring ourselves into having a simple mind and simple life, a life which is very straight forward and refined (despite what karmas may arise that we will have to live through and take care of), yet also a life which is creative and liberated. Usually this brings happiness, health and spiritual integrity when we are living (mostly) in this state, and Astrology is one of the keys which brings us to this state of awareness.....being in the present moment.

This is not to say that we cannot look to the past or the future, in fact we should explore the past and future since the three states of Time are interconnected. Its just that we should not get carried away and lost in the past and future, since they exist only in our relative mind (and likely, someone else's past and future are not at all the same realities as our own).

In conclusion, considering these insights and points written of in this article, we can contemplate:

-Are we ready to let go into the great expanse of karmas that await us, taking care of them in the moments they arise in Time as we continue living our lives, and do it prepared and without care of knowing what was done in the past to create the present conditions, or whats to come in the future to resolve the presently manifesting karmas of our lives?  And truly let go and live in the NOW? That is for you as an individual to decide if you can live like that, freely and without much strife or complaint, and without going back and forth between past, present and future.

- Or, do we use the available insights and gifts of Astrological wisdom to help hone our awareness into a more conscious present moment, a more simple mind and life where though the karmas will continue in our lives, we may know what to expect, we may be better aware what to do to avoid creating more complications related to those karmas and we may remain much more in the present moment; truly living instead of spending most our time (which again, only really is happening in our own relative minds) in the past or future?

The karmas (which are the conditions. events and experiences) of our lives are inevitably going to unfold, it is unavoidable, no matter how easy, hard, high, low, fascinating or wicked they may be. We can live through the processing of these karmas anyway we like!

The choice is yours, either way you tread, enjoy your journey!
