About Eric Socha

Various experiences and cultures have cultivated my deep and sincere vision for living a spiritual life. This page will help you get to know a little about who I am, and what lead me to Vedic Astrology.

The most profound experiences, which have shaped much of who I am today, arise out of Native American and Eastern mystic cultures. I have a variety of healing and spiritual practices I utilize in my life for personal contemplation, healing and exploration. Practicing Reiki healing has aided my sensitivity to the healing process through sensing energy. Yoga and other body-mind disciplines have cultivated awareness of the energies that run in the neurological channels, and how to regulate or balance these neurological channels. And focused, intentional seated meditation has developed conscious awareness for me.

For over ten years I worked closely with a traditional Native American Elder, working in the Mi'kmaq, Ojibwa and Abenaki spiritual traditions. While the Native spirituality is not specifically related to Vedic Astrology (considering there are two different cultural understandings here), my time spend in Native spiritual ceremony and healing has given me special tools of intuition and healing skills which contribute to my work with Vedic Astrology. More so, despite the Vedic and North American Native cultures are opposite sides of the Earth from each other, the basis of elements and worship remains similar. Put simply, if culture arises out of inspiration from the ecosystem where a community of people dwell, then all cultural wisdoms and spiritualities are quite similar. The difference is that each culture has a unique set of ecological elements and community of life in their traditional homelands which provide location-specific 'ingredients' which make up their spiritual traditions. For me, whether I am in India or Central America, South America or in a North American Native ceremony or cultural gathering - I am always able to connect similar practices in all the places.

Astrology can take time to process what is seen in the charts. These various practices and experiences I am witness to in my life have both lead me to my study of Vedic Astrology, as well as have aided my ability to perceive the wisdom and insights Astrology has to offer.

Intercultural travel has also been a large part of my experiences which have formulated who I am today. Much of my travels have taken place directly in India - the home of Vedic Astrology. While changing rapidly like everywhere else, India is a region of the world which still applies Astrology in a variety of ways perhaps more than anywhere else in this current time period.

In actuality, Astrology did not come to me until much later in my life. However, I realize now that I have been studying astrology for perhaps the last 16 years that I have traveled to and from India. In so many ways the rituals, mythology and Deities of Eastern Mysticism are actually more related to the Planets, Zodiac and Astrology than many people realized.

My study of Vedic Astrology began in early 2017, in the form of Vedic Numerology (the use of Numbers as they are related to the 9 Planets of the Vedic system). After a year or two of studying and doing readings utilizing Numerology, I ventured into the much more vast and complex system of Vedic Astrology. I spent about 2.5 more years studying independently from published books on Vedic Astrology and reaffirming information utilizing the internet.

Finally, in November 2020, I paid tuition to enter into a formal study, when I became a student of a 2 year Vedic Astrology apprenticeship school, run by a Vedic Astrologer - Ryan Kurczak. The program is very solidifying, challenging and insightful. And it has helped develop my own personal interpretations and understandings of Vedic Astrology beyond what my initial personal studies enabled me to perceive.

The topic of Vedic Astrology (Astrology in general) is extremely vast and complex. While there are many elements to Astrology which are actually quite basic once the information is imprinted upon the mind, this topic may be a lot to grapple with for the mentally unfocused person. It is the practice for the Astrologer to both harness and process the wisdom of Astrology in a manner that any person can gain insight and benefit from.

I continue to study and practice Vedic Astrology with great fascination and curiosity, and always am learning new skills and methods of interpretation and scientific relationship between the planets, astronomy and astrology, and consciousness. I certainly am not mastered in absolutely all aspects of Astrology, but I have sat with this topic for many years already and feel that I can be of help in meaningful ways. The application of Vedic Astrology in the process of reading charts enables me to test and refine my own skills, knowledge and abilities.

Though an ancient system coming out of Hindu-Indian culture, Vedic Astrology is very applicable today. I focus my personal work with Vedic Astrology on present day, real world situations that anyone living today may find themselves in as well as can relate to. Though, the root of the information coming from my readings is gathered in a very ancient, sometimes culturally specific, source of insights and knowledge. I do my part in translating from ancient to modern, culturally specific to multicultural, in order to speak to the needs and conditions of our current times.

I hope to provide the most enjoyable and insightful Astrology services that I have capacity to offer you!
